Evaluating sources, numbers, and dates
Check news, AI comparisons, calculators, and travel information before acting on them.
Updated 28 September 2026. First identify four layers: the original data, how it was selected or calculated, the interpretation, and the decision you might make. A ranking without a date or method is not enough to compare two countries or models.
Open the original source
When a news summary or AI comparison interests you, open its cited source. Check the event date, publication date, sample, and version of any model. Compare more than one direct source for a developing story. A forecast is a scenario based on assumptions, not a certain future value.
Test assumptions
With a calculator, change one important input and observe how much the result moves. Before travel, confirm schedules, prices, entry rules, and local conditions with the relevant operator or authority. When sharing a result, include the source URL, access date, and limits of the conclusion.
